The Navy-sized legend: Buck 112 Ranger ⚓️🔪

The Buck story started with the 110 Folding Hunter, a lock-back that took the outdoors by storm. It was so popular you could spot it on sailors’ belts across the U.S. Navy. A couple of sailors got into a fight one day, and the 110 Folding Hunter was used. As a result, the captain issued a decree that knives carried could not have a blade length of a specific size. The 110 was just a hair too long, so Buck did what Buck does: they engineered a smaller, ship-shape version. Enter the 112 Ranger—same classic look and lock-back reliability, sized right for regulations and everyday carry. Still made in the USA, still a favorite.

What makes the 112 a keeper

  • About 3" (≈7.6 cm) clip-point blade in proven 420HC stainless—sharp, tough, easy to maintain

  • Solid lock-back mechanism that clicks secure when open

  • Brass bolsters with genuine Crelicam™ ebony handle scales

  • Compact closed length: 4¼" (10.8 cm)

  • Rides on your belt in the included black leather sheath (not US-made)

Buck bonafides

Family craft since 1902, company founded in 1961, and a reputation cemented when the 110 hit in the ’60s. The Ranger followed in the early ’70s and has been part of the Buck hall of fame ever since. Today Buck builds in Post Falls, Idaho—still family-rooted and field-ready.

Nature’s signature 🌳

Ebony is a natural material, so grain and color will vary from knife to knife. Those “birthmarks” aren’t flaws—they’re character.

Lifetime guarantee ✅

Buck warrants every knife against defects in materials and workmanship for the life of the knife. If something’s wrong, they’ll repair or replace it. (Normal wear, misuse, or mods aren’t covered.)
