Here’s a real gem from the golden age of Wrangler workwear – a 1990s Brushpopper in a bold, Southwestern-inspired print on a vivid blue backdrop. Made in Costa Rica during the years when Wrangler still produced their heavy-duty cowboy shirts offshore to the same rugged standards, this one’s built to last and to stand out.
Like all true Brushpoppers, it’s made from substantially heavier cotton than your average Western shirt – tough enough for ranch work, trail riding, or just looking sharp at the feed store. The regular buttons (not pearl snaps) are a telltale Brushpopper trait, preferred by working cowboys for staying put when the going gets rough. Two chest pockets feature the iconic “W” stitching, Wrangler’s signature mark of authenticity.
This shirt has a touch of wear, with a bit of fading on the collar and sleeves, and a few light marks near the belly – nothing major, just the kind of patina that gives a vintage shirt its personality. The fabric is soft yet strong, with all stitching intact and plenty of life left in it.
Brushpoppers have a loyal following among collectors and Western wear enthusiasts alike, thanks to their unique prints, durability, and ties to authentic cowboy culture. Whether you’re expanding a vintage collection or want a dependable work shirt with style, this one’s ready to put in more miles – and maybe collect a few more stories along the way.
Fun fact:
Brushpoppers became a rodeo-circuit staple in the ’80s and ’90s because the heavier fabric stood up to saddle friction, brush, and even the occasional wrestling match with a stubborn calf.
