Fabric & Feel — Why Tencel Matters 🌿
Tencel is a modern, eco-conscious fiber derived from sustainably sourced eucalyptus trees. It's known for its softness, breathability, and a flattering, fluid drape. On this jacket, Tencel offers you a lighter, more comfortable fit than traditional gabardine or heavy cotton. So it's perfect when you want Western style without a heavy coat feeling. H Bar C aims to combine heritage with modern sensibility, and this material choice shows just that.
H Bar C – The Legacy Behind the Jacket 🤠🏆
Founded in 1897 by Brooklyn tailor Samuel Christenfeld, the company became Halpern & Christenfeld in 1906. Then years later, the name was shortened to H-C, and eventually became H Bar C — a moniker that would soon be tied to the roots of authentic Western wear.
By the 1930s they expanded into Western clothing, positioning themselves at the heart of Hollywood’s golden age of Western cinema. Over the decades, H Bar C clothed legends like John Wayne, Gene Autry, Roy Rogers, Elvis Presley. Hence they turned Western ranchwear into a global style language.
In the mid-1990s H Bar C took a hiatus from production. Consequently, their vintage garments rose to cult status among collectors. Then in 2016, with Western aesthetics coming back around, H Bar C rebooted production — still carrying forward the same emphasis on style, quality and authenticity that made the brand legendary.
Here at Lasso we’re proud to be the only H Bar C retailer in Europe — bringing you the heritage, craftsmanship and Western flair straight from the source.
