1990s Waxed Field Jacket

Now this is proper old-school Marlboro Classics. A long 1990s field jacket in beautifully aged olive green waxed cotton, finished with a contrasting dark brown leather collar.

The design sits somewhere between a traditional country coat, military field jacket and Western ranch coat – exactly the sort of combination Marlboro Classics did so well during its heyday. The long cut provides plenty of coverage, while the large lower pockets, concealed front closure and leather collar give it that rugged, practical character the brand was famous for.

And the age is part of the appeal. The waxed cotton has developed a wonderfully lived-in appearance and the leather collar has gained its own patina. You can immediately tell this isn't a new jacket pretending to look old.

Despite its age, it remains in very good vintage condition with no notable flaws. Proper vintage outerwear that's already done the hard work of acquiring character.

🐎 About Marlboro Classics

Marlboro Classics emerged under that name in 1987, developed by the historic Italian textile group Marzotto. Its concept was an unusual and highly successful marriage: American Western and outdoor clothing interpreted through Italian design and manufacturing.

The brand built an entire world around the mythology of the American West – ranches, open roads, workwear, leather, denim and rugged outdoor clothing. By the 1990s, Marlboro Classics had become an international fashion label in its own right, with its jackets and outerwear forming an especially important part of the collection.

The brand later became MCS, but vintage pieces carrying the full Marlboro Classics name belong to the period most closely associated with its original Western identity. This field jacket captures that aesthetic particularly well: practical, rugged, slightly romantic and designed to look even better after years of wear.
